"The silence

is killing"

Barricades

Barricades is a reality check.  It's about trying to get through to someone that they're complicit in their own isolation.  That you can't close yourself off and then complain that you're lonely. That it's not just some curse of fate that is blocking you from being happy.  It really can be summed up by the tagline of the song: "You've wrapped yourself in barricades, of course the quiet is deafening."

Dinosaur Ballet

I never outgrew my dinosaur phase, which is why three of my animated videos prominently feature them.

This year I've been making a point to experience as much of the Orlando arts scene as possible and I wanted to show my appreciation for one of my favorite activities of the year (checking out the arts) with a video featuring my favorite thing of the ever (dinosaurs).

The Orlando Ballet, Opera Orlando, Orlando Science Center, Iron Cow, Orlando Philharmonic, Timucua Arts White House, Claddagh Cottage Irish Pub, and the Orlando Shakespeare Theater all make appearances along with seventeen different species of dinosaur.  The great reptiles range from the more familiar like Triceratops and Brachiosaurus to the fairly obscure Therizinosaurus and Sauropelta. And of course, featured prominently is my favorite animal of all time, the Tyrant King himself: Tyrannosaurus Rex.

While I don't love hugs as much as Dan will claim onstage, I do love dinosaurs and can talk for a very long time about them.  Be warned. - Matt

Lyrics

Dawn breaks on a day that slips away

You drive off in a haze and all the

Thoughts fade to gray

It’s unfolding all the same

By the choices that you’ve made

But you blame it all on fate

At the slightest touch you turn away

You show your back to those reaching in

You’ve wrapped yourself in barricades

Of course the quiet is deafening

You stand alone in this crowded place

With sadness tinged mask of strength

That’s meant to hide, hide away

The subtle coward too afraid to face

The idle hours of all those days that

You’re content to let drift away

At the slightest touch you turn away

You show your back to those reaching in

You’ve wrapped yourself in barricades

Of course the quiet is deafening

You’ve wrapped yourself in barricades

Of course the quiet is deafening
